TLDR Combination therapy improves urinary flow and reduces residual urine, but needs better stent design.
The study investigated the effects of combining finasteride with a biodegradable stent in patients with urinary retention caused by bladder outlet obstruction. The combination therapy was found to be effective in improving urinary flow rate and reducing residual urine volume compared to placebo, but there were issues with treatment discontinuation and stent breakdown. New stent configurations are needed to improve the treatment's effectiveness.
