TLDR Plant-based compounds show promise for treating neurodegenerative diseases but need more research.
The review discusses the potential of plant-derived natural compounds, such as quercetin, curcumin, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), apigenin, and cannabinoids, in treating neurodegenerative disorders (NDs) like Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, Huntington's, and ALS. Despite the lack of effective therapeutics for NDs, these phytomedicines show promise due to their properties and potency. However, current treatments face challenges like drug resistance and poor bioavailability. The review emphasizes the need for further pre-clinical and clinical research to develop plant-based drugs for NDs, moving from bench to bedside.
