Nyctanthes arbor-tristis, a large shrub from the Oleaceae family, contains a variety of phytochemicals such as D-mannitol, β sitosterol, flavanol glycosides, and oleanolic acid. Traditionally, it has been used to treat conditions like inflammation, dyspepsia, flatulence, colic, ophthalmopathy, splenomegaly, greyness of hair, and baldness.
