    The review article from 2015 examined the properties of Asiasari Radix et Rhizoma (AR), a traditional medicine from East Asia, and found it to be rich in various bioactive compounds and free from nephrotoxic aristolochic acids. AR demonstrated a wide range of therapeutic activities, including antifungal, antimicrobial, antiallergic, and anticancer effects. Toxicological studies indicated a high safety margin for AR extract, with no significant adverse effects on behavior, mortality, or organ function in animal models. Pharmacological studies supported AR's potential in treating various diseases and conditions, with terpenoids and phenolic compounds identified as key contributors to its pharmacological effects. The review suggests that AR has significant potential for new drug development.
