TLDR Acrotrema arnottianum shows promise for treating infections and has antioxidant properties.
The study on Acrotrema arnottianum Wight, a plant traditionally used to treat baldness and hair loss, identified significant antibacterial and antifungal activities in its ethyl acetate extract, particularly against Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans. The ethanol extract exhibited antioxidant properties with an IC50 value of 36.02±0.27. Phytochemical analysis revealed the presence of flavonoids, phenols, and bioactive compounds like linoleic acid, squalene, and campesterol, which contribute to its therapeutic potential. These findings support the plant's traditional use and suggest its potential for developing new pharmaceutical treatments.
