TLDR Yellow lupine is valuable for its high protein, fat, and beneficial compounds.
The study focused on the pharmacognostic analysis of L. luteus L., or yellow lupine, particularly its composition and coumarin content. The research identified 64 compounds using gas chromatography, with 31 being successfully identified. Notably, the study highlighted the presence of fatty acids such as palmitic, oleic, stearic, linoleic, and linolenic acids in varying concentrations. Additionally, biologically active saponins like lupeol and γ-sitosterol were detected. Coumarin was found in a free state at a concentration of 1.6 mg per 1000 g of dry material. The research underscored the plant's historical and contemporary uses, including its application in folk medicine and as a fodder crop.
