TLDR The new hair straightening method keeps hair straight permanently by using specific creams and heat.
The study proposed a new permanent hair straightening process that involved shampooing, towel drying, flat ironing at 175℃, applying a commercial straightening cream with ammonium thioglycolate, rinsing, and oxidizing with a neutralization cream containing hydrogen peroxide. This method aimed to eliminate the distortion of disulfide bonds in the hair, resulting in a permanent straightening effect. The process was validated by the hair's increased resistance to boiling water, suggesting that the repositioning of the non-keratin protein chain in the cortical cell layer was crucial for maintaining the straightened style.
