TLDR PCOS negatively affects women's heart and metabolic health during their reproductive years.
This thesis investigated the long-term cardiometabolic health of women with and without polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) over their reproductive years, focusing on how PCOS influenced health outcomes. It was the first study to longitudinally assess this relationship in a nationally representative cohort of women aged 18-42 years, using various epidemiological methods to overcome data challenges. The research provided new insights into the natural history of PCOS and its impact on cardiometabolic health, enhancing understanding of when and how PCOS affects women during their reproductive years.
