TLDR Botulinum toxin injections greatly reduced pain in Parry-Romberg syndrome.
Parry-Romberg syndrome, a rare condition marked by progressive hemifacial atrophy, hair loss, and retinal vasculopathy, was treated in a case study with repetitive botulinum type A toxin injections. This treatment led to an almost complete resolution of severe chronic pain associated with the syndrome. The study highlighted the potential role of vasculopathy in the development of neurologic damage and facial lipodystrophy in Parry-Romberg syndrome.
