TLDR The myth of Paris and Helen shows that age norms in love and beauty are socially constructed and change over time.
This study explores the myth of Paris and Helen through classical, societal, and modern aesthetic medicine perspectives, revealing a significant age gap of 12 to 25 years between them, with Helen estimated to be 28 to 33 years old and Paris 45 to 55 years old. This age difference challenges traditional views of youthful love and reflects contemporary relationships, questioning ancient gendered age norms. The study also connects their ages to modern anti-aging interventions, such as neuromodulation and skin tightening for women in their 30s, and jawline refinement or hair restoration for men in their 50s. Ultimately, the myth of Paris and Helen highlights the fluidity of cultural limits on love and beauty, suggesting these boundaries are more socially constructed than timeless.
