TLDR The cat's hair loss was linked to a type of cancer.
This case report describes a 13-year-old female cat with a cutaneous mass on the head and ventrally distributed alopecia with shiny skin, which was diagnosed as paraneoplastic alopecia associated with an apocrine adenocarcinoma. Necropsy findings revealed telogenisation and miniaturisation of the hair follicles, consistent with paraneoplastic alopecia. This condition is linked to intraabdominal neoplasms in felines. No conflicts of interest were declared in the study.
