TLDR A cat's hair loss was linked to a severe pancreatic cancer.
A 12-year-old male Domestic Shorthair cat exhibited anorexia, diarrhea, lethargy, and symmetrical alopecia in specific areas, along with soft, painful footpads and shiny skin. Euthanasia was performed, and necropsy revealed a pancreatic adenocarcinoma with liver and omentum metastases. Histopathology indicated significant follicular atrophy and miniaturization. The cat was diagnosed with paraneoplastic alopecia, a rare and severe condition in cats associated with systemic illness and poor prognosis.
