TLDR Mongolia sheep hair follicles grew well in a serum-free medium for 19 days.

The study investigated the in vitro growth of hair follicles from Mongolia Sheep using Williams E serum-free medium. It found that 87.5% of the hair follicles grew well, with an average growth period of 19 days and a growth rate of 0.15 mm/day, peaking in the first 6 days. The follicles maintained their morphological structure for the first 15 days, after which changes such as thinning of the dermal sheath and emergence of keratinocytes were observed. The addition of insulin and hydrocortisone helped maintain follicle shape. This research provided a model for studying cytokines and medicines affecting hair follicle growth.
