TLDR These ovarian conditions cause high testosterone levels.
Stromal hyperplasia of the ovary is a nonneoplastic functional disorder characterized by nodular or diffuse proliferation of ovarian stroma, while ovarian hyperthecosis involves both stromal proliferation and luteinization of stromal cells. These conditions can present as singular cells, clusters, or nodules of luteinized cells and are associated with excessive androgen production, leading to elevated serum testosterone levels.
