TLDR Obstructive Sleep Apnea does not significantly impact outcomes in non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis hospital stays.
The study analyzed data from 30,975 adult hospital admissions to investigate the impact of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) on clinical outcomes in patients with non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis (NCFB) during acute exacerbations. After propensity score matching, 2,960 admissions were compared in each group (with and without OSA). The results showed no significant differences in length of stay (5.2 days vs. 5.1 days), mechanical ventilation use, or mortality between the two groups. This suggests that OSA may not significantly affect clinical outcomes in NCFB exacerbations during hospital admissions.
