TLDR Some drugs may increase the risk of obstructive sleep apnea, while others like certain biologics might decrease it.
The study analyzed 15,316 Individual Safety Reports from the FDA Adverse Events Reporting System to investigate the relationship between certain medications and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). It found that drugs such as sodium oxybate, rofecoxib, alendronate, and others showed increased signals for being associated with OSA. In contrast, biologics like adalimumab, etanercept, and infliximab were associated with a decreased risk of OSA, suggesting a potential protective effect. The results indicate a diverse range of medications that could contribute to or protect against OSA.
