TLDR Itraconazole effectively treated a woman's painful skin condition and hair loss.
A 35-year-old Chinese woman developed a giant tufted angioma with severe pain and hair loss during her pregnancy. After giving birth, she was treated with oral itraconazole (200 mg twice daily), which significantly relieved her pain within 3 days and led to hair regrowth after 1 month. The treatment was discontinued after 3 months, and sustained clinical improvement was observed 6 months post-treatment. The case highlighted the potential of itraconazole, an antifungal drug, as a well-tolerated treatment option for large and painful tufted angiomas, especially given its fewer side effects compared to other systemic treatments.
