TLDR Rinsing with oral care products or tap water helps neutralize acidity from Coca-Cola, but both are equally effective.
This study examined the effects of oral care foams and a spray on salivary pH changes after consuming Coca-Cola® in 32 young adults. It found that rinsing with these products or tap water significantly increased salivary pH and decreased salivary clearance time, effectively mitigating the acidic impact of the beverage. However, there was no significant difference in effectiveness between the oral care products and tap water. The study suggests that while oral care products can help neutralize acidity and aid in faster pH recovery, further research is needed to explore their long-term effects and mineralization benefits.
