Optic Neuropathy in a Child with Alopecia

    TLDR A 4-year-old boy's vision and hair loss were likely caused by inflammation.
    A 4-year-old boy developed an insidious optic neuropathy of unknown cause, which was soon followed by a focal patch of hair loss diagnosed as alopecia areata through biopsy. The timing of these symptoms suggested a common, likely inflammatory, etiology.
