TLDR A combination of nanomilled oral testosterone and dutasteride normalized testosterone levels in men with low testosterone and is safe for short-term use.
In a 2007 study involving 12 healthy men with medically induced hypogonadism, researchers found that a 400-mg dose of nanomilled oral testosterone (NmT) combined with dutasteride (D) effectively normalized serum testosterone levels for 8-10 hours, suggesting its potential as a practical twice-daily therapy for male hypogonadism. The study showed that food intake had minimal impact on the pharmacokinetics of NmT+D, while it decreased the maximum observed concentration for the comparison formulation, testosterone dissolved in oil (CpT+D). Serum dihydrotestosterone (DHT) levels remained below the normal range with both formulations, and no significant adverse effects were reported, indicating the combination's feasibility and safety for short-term use.
