TLDR Black seed oil significantly protects against hair loss from chemotherapy.
In the 2017 study, the effects of Nigella sativa (black seed) on preventing chemotherapy-induced alopecia were examined in adult and newborn albino rats. The study involved seven groups of adult rats (5 per group) and four groups of newborn rats (5 per group), which were treated with various concentrations of N. sativa decoction, N. sativa oil, or minoxidil lotion. The results indicated that N. sativa oil and a 5% N. sativa decoction significantly protected against hair loss caused by the chemotherapeutic agent cyclophosphamide, without affecting hair length and preserving the anagen phase of hair follicles. The study concluded that N. sativa offers significant protection against chemotherapy-induced alopecia.
