TLDR Psychodermatosis is reclassified based on brain-skin interaction, dividing conditions into psychogenic and psychosomatic categories.
The article proposes a new classification for psychodermatosis, focusing on the interaction between the brain and skin, resulting in dermatological conditions not caused by external agents. It categorizes these conditions into psychogenic and psychosomatic dermatoses. Three cases are presented to illustrate this classification: crusty facial lesions, excoriated lesions with alopecia typical of trichotillomania, and lichenified plaques indicative of factitious dermatitis. The proposed classification includes two main categories: cutaneous diseases associated with psychiatric disorders and psychiatric conditions linked to cutaneous disorders influenced by psychosomatic factors.
