TLDR Nanomaterials like silver and gold can improve wound healing but need more research for safety.
The document discusses the potential of nanomaterials in revolutionizing wound care. Metal-based nanomaterials, such as silver, gold, and copper nanoparticles, have shown antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties, and have been used in antimicrobial wound-healing bandages. Nanocomposites made from materials like collagen/gold, chitosan/polyvinyl alcohol, and reduced graphene oxide have demonstrated enhanced antimicrobial and wound-healing activity. Bacterial cellulose and nanoparticles, including hyaluronic acid and chitosan-based hydrogels, have shown promise in wound management due to their high purity, excellent mechanical strength, and good biocompatibility. However, potential toxicity concerns associated with certain nanoparticles necessitate further research for safety assurance.
