TLDR The demineralized bone matrix scaffold is better for cell attachment than the mineralized bone allograft.
The study investigated the effectiveness of mesenchymal progenitor cell (MPC) coating on two biochemical scaffolds, mineralized bone allograft (MBA) and demineralized bone matrix (DBM). Human placenta-derived MPCs were cultured and applied to both scaffolds. After 3 days, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis revealed that the DBM scaffold had a significantly better cell coating, with a coverage of nearly 50%, compared to 30% for the MBA scaffold. The study concluded that the protein surface of the DBM scaffold provides a more conducive microenvironment for cell attachment due to the removal of mineral content, which enhances cell coating.
