Comparison of Modified Ferriman-Gallwey Score and Biochemical Parameters in Estimating the Prevalence of Idiopathic Hirsutism Among Women in the Kurdistan Region

Bushra M. Jarallah, Hataw Adil, Ayad Palani
TLDR The mFG score is effective for diagnosing hirsutism.
This study evaluated the prevalence of idiopathic hirsutism among women in the Kurdistan region using the modified Ferriman-Gallwey (mFG) score and biochemical parameters. It involved 100 hirsute women and 26 healthy controls from Kalar city, Iraq. The study found no significant differences in hormonal markers between the hirsutism group and controls, nor a significant relationship between these markers and hirsutism rates. However, a strong statistical association was observed between the mFG score and the presence and rate of hirsutism, suggesting that the mFG score is a valuable tool for diagnosing hirsutism.
