TLDR Microbeam Radiation Therapy is effective, but using a linear accelerator reduces its benefits.
The thesis explored Microbeam Radiation Therapy (MRT) through simulations and dosimetric calculations using the Monte Carlo technique. It confirmed the consistency of dose distributions with existing literature and evaluated the impact of realistic head phantom structures on dose distribution in bidirectional interlaced MRT (BIMRT). The study found that using an Au contrast agent significantly increased the target dose, while maintaining short dose falloff widths. Additionally, the research assessed the feasibility of using a linear accelerator (linac) as a radiation source for stereotactic MRT, concluding that the advantages of MRT were not preserved with linac usage.
