TLDR The authors created a realistic and efficient method to simulate hair movement by combining fluid dynamics with individual hair strand behavior.
In this paper, the authors addressed the complex problem of hair dynamics by modeling hair volume as a continuum and treating interaction dynamics as fluid dynamics. This approach proved to be strong and viable for simulating hair-hair and hair-air interactions. To maintain the individual character of hair for realistic rendering, they developed a detailed model for the stiffness and inertial dynamics of individual hair strands. The stiffness dynamics, formulated in reduced coordinates, was numerically stable and fast. They successfully unified the continuum interaction dynamics with the individual hair's stiffness dynamics.

community Fresh off the press: Dutasteride may cause chronic infertility

      in Research/Science  643 upvotes 10 months ago
Dutasteride may cause chronic infertility by reducing semen volume and motility, with concerns about irreversible prostate fibrosis. Users consider switching to finasteride or using treatments like minoxidil and microneedling, weighing hair preservation against fertility.

DHT is important for sexual function and mood, but finasteride and dutasteride can reduce DHT, causing side effects like reduced libido and erectile dysfunction. These treatments are effective for hair loss, but their impact on DHT leads to debate.

community Switching to Oral from Topical min effective or not

in Minoxidil  6 upvotes 9 months ago
Switching from topical to oral minoxidil may lead to better results for some users, with oral minoxidil generally being more effective due to higher absorption. However, it can also cause side effects like hypertrichosis and blood pressure issues, and individual responses may vary.
