MINOXIDIL-HAEMODYNAMIC AND CLINICAL EXPERIENCES WITH A NEW PERIPHERAL VASODILATOR

This study examined the effects of minoxidil, a peripheral vasodilator, on hypertensive patients. The study found that minoxidil was effective in improving blood pressure control when used in conjunction with other anti-hypertensive agents, but was associated with side-effects such as oedemas, increased symptoms of angina pectoris, and claudication. The study concluded that while minoxidil may be useful in treating severe and drug-resistant arterial hypertensive disease, it is unlikely to become a routine treatment for initially symptom-free patients with benign arterial hypertension due to its side-effects.
