TLDR A new method accurately measures minoxidil and finasteride in medicines.
The study presents a new high-performance liquid chromatography-ultraviolet method for the simultaneous assessment of minoxidil and finasteride in a therapeutic preparation. The method uses a Betasil C-18 column with a mobile phase of acetonitrile, water, and triethylamine, adjusted to pH 7.20. Minoxidil and finasteride were separated with elution times of 3.435 and 11.435 minutes, respectively. The calibration curves were linear for finasteride (10–30 ppm) and minoxidil (25–75 ppm). The method was validated and found to be precise, accurate, and robust, with no interference from excipients, making it suitable for routine quality control analysis.
