TLDR Minoxidil tablets with 6% croscarmellose sodium dissolve quickly and work well.
The study focused on developing fast dissolving tablets of Minoxidil to improve patient compliance, particularly for those who have difficulty swallowing traditional tablets. Various formulations were created using different methods and superdisintegrants, such as crospovidone and croscarmellose sodium, to enhance the dissolution rate. The formulations were evaluated for several parameters, including hardness, friability, and drug release patterns. Among the tested formulations, MDF6, MEF6, and MSF6, which contained 6% w/w croscarmellose sodium, were identified as the most effective, with rapid in-vitro dispersion times of approximately 6 and 2.3 seconds. IR spectroscopic studies confirmed no drug interaction, indicating the formulations' stability and effectiveness.
