TLDR Combining minoxidil with dutasteride and microneedling is more effective for female pattern hair loss than just dutasteride and microneedling.
A study involving 40 women with Female Pattern Hair Loss (FPHL) found that combining Minoxidil 0.1% and Dutasteride 0.01% with microneedling was more effective than using Dutasteride 0.01% with microneedling alone. Group A, who received the combined treatment, showed a significant increase in the mean percentage of thick hair (from 30.75% to 55%) and a decrease in thin hair (from 37.75% to 20.5%). Group B, who received Dutasteride with microneedling alone, also showed an increase in thick hair (from 28% to 43.5%), but the response was significantly higher in Group A. No significant side effects were reported, except for slight scalp irritation due to microneedling and scaly scalp in 20% of patients in Group A.
