TLDR Miliacin may help prevent hair loss and improve hair growth in mice with a condition similar to human baldness.
The study conducted on 30 male C57BL/6 mice over 28 days investigated the effects of miliacin on androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The results showed that topical application of miliacin increased hair follicle density, increased the ratio of hair follicles in the growth stage to the resting stage, extended the duration of the growth stage, and reduced the variability of outer root sheath diameters. This suggests that miliacin can prevent the formation of morphological signs of AGA. Additionally, miliacin was found to potentially neutralize the effects of testosterone on the structure and functions of hair follicles, indicating similar effects to minoxidil on the structural reorganization of hair follicles in the AGA model.
