Microscopic Study Concerning Hair Form of One Family in the Mixed Blood Between European and Ponapean

TLDR Hair form in mixed-blood families varies due to hereditary twist-knots and pigment formation.
The study examined the hair of a mixed-blood family, revealing significant variation in hair form among the offspring due to the combination of different hair and pigment formation modes. The husband's hair showed 42.2% twist-knots, while the wife's had 13%, and the offspring ranged from 3.6% to 57.5%. Microscopic examination found that even hair appearing straight to the naked eye had about 19% twist-knots. The study suggests that twist-knots contribute to wavy hair, with variations in twisting patterns, and indicates that these features are natural and possibly hereditary. The research highlights the influence of pigment formation on hair form, though further examination of hair formation processes is needed.
