TLDR The combination of microneedling, PRP, and minoxidil is more effective for hair loss than minoxidil alone.
The study compared the efficacy of 5% minoxidil alone versus a combination of minoxidil, microneedling, and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in 50 patients aged 18-50. Group B, which received the combination treatment, showed significantly superior outcomes at 6 months compared to Group A, which received only minoxidil. The study found that the combination therapy is more effective, with mild adverse effects such as pruritus, seborrheic dermatitis, and headache. The authors suggest that PRP is a safe and effective adjunct, but recommend further research with standardized protocols and larger studies.
