TLDR Bhrungraj extract showed strong potential to fight liver cancer cells.
The study investigated the anticancer properties of the methanolic extract of Eclipta alba Hassk., commonly known as Bhrungraj, on the HepG2 human liver cancer cell line. Traditionally used in Ayurveda for hair growth and as a hepatoprotective agent, Bhrungraj demonstrated significant anticancer activity in this in vitro study. The sulforhodamine B (SRB) assay results showed an average growth inhibition of 77.36% in the HepG2 cells, indicating its potential as an effective anticancer agent. The findings supported further exploration of Bhrungraj extracts for anticancer applications.
