TLDR The algae grew better and fixed nitrogen more efficiently when they worked together, using nitrogen and iron.
The study investigated the symbiotic relationship between Polychaeta and Trichoderma, two types of algae, in the context of nitrogen and iron use and cycling in the ocean. The research also examined the impact of environmental factors such as light, pH, and temperature on these algae. The results showed that the filtrate of Trichoderma reesei significantly enhanced the growth of Polycoccus, with the OD730 increasing to 0.0372 within 72 hours of the addition of Trichoderma reesei. The introduction of the wild-type iron carrier secretion of G. globulus also boosted the growth rate and nitrogen fixation efficiency of the algae. The study concluded that the symbiotic relationship between the nitrogen and iron utilization of the algae contributed to the growth and nitrogen fixation activities of both species.
