TLDR Using seaweed-based amendments improves soil quality and boosts rice growth and yield.
The study demonstrated that applying organic seaweed amendments significantly improved soil quality and rice yield in acid soils. Seaweed extracts, particularly from Sargassum wightii, were found to enhance photosynthesis and resource use efficiencies in rice by providing essential nutrients and reducing metal toxicity. This environmentally friendly and cost-effective method shows promise as a soil conditioner and plant growth biostimulant, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional chemical fertilizers.
