TLDR A Chippiparai pup was successfully treated for scabies and a fungal infection using ivermectin and topical solutions.
A 2-month-old Chippiparai pup in Puducherry, India, was successfully treated for concurrent scabies and dermatophytosis. The pup exhibited intense scratching, crusty lesions, and generalized alopecia. Diagnosis was confirmed through skin scraping and staining techniques. Treatment involved oral ivermectin (300 μg/kg) twice weekly and topical acaricide solution (2% permethrin and 2% miconazole) every 3 days for 4 weeks, along with supportive therapy including pyrantel pamoate and an herbal immunostimulant. The protocol effectively managed the infections without causing toxicity.
