Male Androgenetic Alopecia: Response to Finasteride

    Thakkar Suruchi, Reddy B. S. N
TLDR Finasteride is a safe and effective treatment for male hair loss.
The study evaluated the efficacy and safety of oral finasteride in treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in 40 male patients aged 18-35 over 9 months. Administering 1mg/day of finasteride showed significant improvement in hair growth, as evidenced by clinical photographs, trichogram, hair pull tests, and self-assessment, with notable benefits in the mid-area, vertex, and frontal regions. These improvements were statistically significant, with p-values less than 0.05 for hair growth and less than 0.001 for hair pull test and anagen-telogen ratio. The study found no significant side effects, concluding that finasteride is a safe, well-tolerated, and effective treatment for male AGA.
