TLDR Low-power laser therapy is an effective, side-effect-free treatment that speeds up hair regrowth and crural ulcer healing.
The study, conducted over two years, involved 60 patients with alopecia and 24 patients with crural ulcers, assessing the effectiveness of Low Power Laser (LPL) therapy. The LPL, a red diode laser with a 670 nm wavelength, was used on patients and compared to control groups receiving standard treatments. Results showed that the LPL group experienced a significant reduction in hair loss within 45 days, compared to 120-195 days for the control group, with 81.41% of alopecia cases showing favorable outcomes on histopathological examinations. When LPL was combined with classical therapy for alopecia, 84.85% of patients saw hair loss cessation within 40 days. Crural ulcer healing was approximately three times faster with LPL treatment than with classical therapy. No side effects were reported, leading to the conclusion that LPL therapy is an effective complementary treatment for both conditions, offering quicker results without side effects.
