TLDR The 1,064-nm Nd:YAG laser is versatile and effective for treating leg veins, hair removal, and skin rejuvenation, especially in darker skin types.
The long pulse 1,064-nm neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG) laser was highlighted for its versatility in aesthetic dermatology, particularly for treating leg veins, permanent hair removal, and skin rejuvenation. Its deep penetration and absorption by hemoglobin, melanin, and water made it increasingly popular. The laser was especially effective for treating 0.5–3.0 mm deoxygenated leg veins and was considered the safest option for hair removal in darker skin types due to reduced pigmentary side effects. Additionally, it was used for skin rejuvenation by heating dermal water and stimulating collagen production. The authors reviewed the laser's parameters and shared their experiences to achieve good clinical outcomes with minimal side effects.
