TLDR The 1,064-nm Nd:YAG laser is versatile and effective for treating leg veins, hair removal, and skin rejuvenation, especially in darker skin types.
The long pulse 1,064-nm Nd:YAG laser was recognized for its versatility in aesthetic dermatology due to its deep penetration and absorption by hemoglobin, melanin, and water. It gained popularity for treating leg veins, permanent hair removal, and skin rejuvenation. It was particularly effective for treating 0.5-3.0 mm deoxygenated leg veins and was considered the safest option for hair removal in darker skin types due to reduced pigmentary side effects. Additionally, it was used for skin rejuvenation by heating dermal water and stimulating collagen production. The review shared experiences and parameters for achieving good clinical responses with minimal side effects.
