TLDR The Nd:YAG laser safely reduces facial hair and slows regrowth, with patient satisfaction.
In a study from 2001 involving 29 patients, the long-pulse Nd:YAG laser, with a wavelength of 1064 nm and fluences between 56 J/cm² and 70 J/cm², was evaluated for its effectiveness in removing unwanted facial hair. The results showed an average reduction in hair density of 43% at 3 months, 36% at 6 months, and 46% at 9 months post-treatment. Additionally, the interval between hair regrowth was two to six times longer than with self-applied hair removal methods. The treatment was found to be safe and effective across various skin types, including darker skin, with no significant complications reported. The delay in hair regrowth contributed to patient satisfaction with the laser treatment.
