Approaching Sexual Dysfunction, Hair Loss, And Rashes With Lithium

    April 2025
Lithium treatment can lead to sexual dysfunction, hair loss, and skin issues such as acne and psoriasis. For sexual dysfunction, aspirin at 240 mg/day might be beneficial, but further research is necessary. In cases of hair loss, it is important to first rule out hypothyroidism; zinc and selenium supplements or minoxidil could be considered, although evidence is limited. Acne exacerbated by lithium can be managed with conventional treatments like tetracycline, while psoriasis may need a dermatologist's intervention.
