Lipodermatosclerosis: A Postphlebitic Syndrome

    Rekha Sheth, Vera Poonevala
TLDR The patient has a leg condition caused by vein issues, needing lifestyle changes and leg care.
A 30-year-old businessman presented with skin changes and pigmentation on his left leg, following trauma a year prior. Examination revealed indurated, brawny skin with patchy hair loss and reduced ankle mobility. Despite normal blood tests, a biopsy indicated scleroderma-like changes, and Doppler imaging showed segmental thrombosis in leg veins. The patient was previously treated with heparin and aspirin. Recommendations included weight and diabetes management, vitamin supplements, compression stockings, and leg care exercises to promote collateral circulation development.
