TLDR People with early-onset androgenetic alopecia may have a higher risk of heart disease due to abnormal blood lipid levels.
The study evaluated the lipid profile in 60 participants, including 30 men with early-onset androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and 30 healthy controls, to assess its correlation with disease severity. It found that AGA patients had significantly higher levels of triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and fasting blood sugar, along with lower high-density lipoprotein cholesterol compared to controls. Additionally, 80% of AGA cases exhibited metabolic syndrome, which is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. The study concluded that patients with AGA appeared to be at an increased risk of developing coronary artery disease and high blood lipids, suggesting the importance of evaluating serum lipid indices in these individuals to potentially reduce cardiovascular risk.
