TLDR Healthy lifestyle changes, especially weight loss, can improve symptoms and overall health in people with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, especially if they are overweight or obese.
The study "Influence of Lifestyle on the Prognosis of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome" analyzed 14 articles from the PUBMED database to understand the impact of lifestyle changes on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). The research concluded that lifestyle significantly influences the prognosis of PCOS, particularly in overweight and obese patients. Healthy behaviors can improve pathological conditions, while bad habits can induce clinical manifestations of PCOS in predisposed individuals. Lifestyle changes, especially those leading to weight loss, can improve insulin resistance, free testosterone levels, acne, hirsutism, and reproductive function, reduce cardiovascular risk, and positively influence psychological well-being and quality of life. Therapeutic strategies combining lifestyle changes and drug interventions were found to be more effective. Professional monitoring can increase adherence to treatment.
