TLDR Early detection and treatment are crucial to prevent irreversible hair loss in Lichen Planopilaris.
This case report describes a 70-year-old female with Lichen Planopilaris (LPP), a rare inflammatory condition causing scarring hair loss, complicated by Pili Torti and Ectodermal Dysplasia, which resulted in hair curling. Despite treatment with intralesional steroids and minoxidil, her hair loss progressed, underscoring the importance of early detection and intervention to prevent irreversible hair loss. The report highlights that while Pili Torti is not specific to a particular disorder, its presence should prompt investigation for underlying conditions like LPP. Although various medications improved symptoms such as itching and shedding, they did not prevent the progression of scarring hair loss, emphasizing the need for early treatment to minimize hair loss and halt disease progression.
