TLDR Interface dermatitis is the most common skin change in drug-induced hypersensitivity syndrome.
This retrospective study analyzed skin histology in 37 patients with drug-induced hypersensitivity syndrome (DIHS) at Niigata University Hospital over a decade. The most common histopathological feature observed was interface dermatitis, present in over 90% of patients, followed by dyskeratosis in 54%, vasculitic changes in 43.2%, and local eosinophilia in 24.3%. The study highlights the variability of histological features in DIHS and suggests that these changes may represent different stages or a spectrum of the condition, although further research is needed to confirm this. The study's limitations include its retrospective design and single-center setting.
