TLDR 830 nm LED light effectively treats and prevents skin redness and dark spots, while 590 nm LED light only helps prevent them.
This pilot study investigated the effects of 830 nm and 590 nm LED light on post-inflammatory erythema (PIE) and hyperpigmentation (PIH) in 10 healthy subjects. The study found that 830 nm LED light significantly reduced erythema and melanin indices for therapeutic purposes compared to the control group, while 590 nm did not show significant therapeutic effects. However, both 830 nm and 590 nm LEDs demonstrated significant preventive effects against PIE compared to the control group. The results suggest that 830 nm LEDs are effective in both preventing and treating PIE and PIH, while 590 nm LEDs are effective in prevention only.
