TLDR Turkish Van cats' genotypes don't affect traits like eye color or hair length.
The study investigated the genotypic distribution of W locus alleles in 48 Turkish Van cats and their association with certain phenotypes. The results showed that the cats carried W/W, W/w+, w+/w+, and W/ws genotypes with frequencies of 41.67%, 22.92%, 18.75%, and 16.67%, respectively. Allele frequencies were 61.45% for W, 30.21% for w+, and 8.33% for ws. However, no association was found between these genotypes and phenotypic traits such as eye color, head spotting, and hair length, suggesting that other genetic factors might influence these characteristics.
